 How do I become a supplier?

 

  • Your products must be designed and made by you.

  • We do not accept any imported stock as our ethos is promoting Australian independent designers, makers and artisans.

  • After reading the terms and conditions please submit your application form. It can take up to 2 weeks to assess and respond to your enquiry.

  • If we have too many like products we will keep your details on file until a space becomes available in store. We will then contact you and discuss whether you are still interested in joining us.

  • We also do not accept products sold in other retail spaces within a 5km radius of the store (via your own website or at markets does not apply to this rule)

 

What are our trading hours?

  • Our trading hours are Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am – 3pm and Saturday 9am – 3pm.

 

Cost?

  • MadLegs and friends primarily takes stock on consignment from pre-approved applicants only.

  • Like many creative spaces we charge a monthly rental and the cost to be involved can be as little as $25+GST per week if committing to 12 weeks (highly recommended, as it can take customers some time to be aware of and expect your products to be in store).   The options are $140+GST per 4 weeks per maker or $300+GST for 12 weeks.   

  • In addition, on each sale made through the store a 20% commission is kept by MadLegs & friends, which includes 10% GST MadLegs & friends is required to pay on each retail sale.  This 10% is based on the sell price and is a legal requirement for all businesses selling goods in Australia.  We are not required to provide details of the makers supplying the store to the ATO, and the GST payment is required of us regardless of whether our makers are registered for GST.

  • Rental is required one calendar month in advance. One months notice is required if you would like to vacate and we have an initial 3 month minimum period.

  • We have an alternative agreement for artists who only require wall display (original art only with no additional products) - with no rental fee and a 50% commission.

  • If a maker who commits to a three month trading period and decides not to stay, there will be no proportional refund.

 

What is included in the cost?

  • A store that is curated, merchandised beautifully, staffed and trading 6 days a week.

  • Ongoing visual merchandising of the store and window displays.

  • Products will be merchandised with other brands creating a “story”, there are no boxes or shelves you rent or tend.

  • Regular social media posts on Facebook and Instagram @madlegsandfriends.

  • Promotion via the MadLegs & friends website and email data base. Advertising in the local school newsletters and Neighbourhood Watch newsletter and letter box drops.

  • A weekly report of sales made and payment.

  • Phone calls, texts or emails to you with any customer enquiries.

  • All amenities – EFTPOS, bags and gift wrapping included. If your goods require gift boxes or specialised wrapping this will need to be provided by you.

  • Exposure of your products to a new customer base.

 

Your part in this?

  • It is important that you have at least one social media platform and be actively using this to promote your business and MadLegs & friends and engage with us.

  • MadLegs & friends will tag and cross promote all businesses.

  • List MadLegs & friends as a stockist on your website.

 

Stock

  • A thorough and concise inventory needs to accompany all stock delivered with your maker code which will sent to you with your confirmation to trade; style numbers and prices. Any stock arriving without an inventory in hard copy and pricing will not be put out on display.

  • Do not send any stock until you have received confirmation of acceptance to trade, once you have received your confirmation and invoice you will have 7 days to make payment to secure your tenure. 

  • If you need to post or courier your stock to the shop, this is done at your expense. This also applies to collection of your stock.
